Complete refurbishment of the existing grade I listed guildhall and the grade II listed council cham-bers. Also construction of new innovation centre offices for local businesses. The existing fabric of the buildings is being im-proved where it does not impact upon the aesthetic of the building. The new part of the building was designed to make maximum use of the thermal mass of the building. The building is heated and cooled using a ground source heat pump making use of river water as a heat source.
